We celebrate children and promote arts education via our signature programs and as the fiscal agent for the Newark Arts Education Roundtable (NAER), composed of 65+ organizations that advocate for quality, sequential arts learning – in school and out of school.
We are the backbone supporting Newark’s forthcoming Citywide Cultural Plan, a five-ward effort at the behest of the Mayor’s Office, with lead support from Prudential Foundation.
We are the force behind New Jersey’s largest annual arts festival, Open Doors Citywide Arts Festival, which showcases hundreds of artists, galleries and exhibitions of the visual and performing arts and attracts upwards of 10,000 residents and visitors.
We calculate the economic impact of the arts in Newark working with Americans for the Arts, by surveying thousands of arts participants to quantify the over $95 million that is generated annually by Newark arts and culture.
We are a funding organization that strengthens community by making ArtStart mini-grants to community arts programs committed to issues of equity, inclusion, early education, exposure and neighborhood development.
We are the voice of the arts community in Newark, using an active website and social media platforms, as well as convening with community stakeholders, foundations, government, education, and nonprofit leaders. We keep Newark’s arts community connected, informed, and engaged for collective impact.
We provide accolades to Newark’s art champions annually at our awards gala, with former honorees like Cissy Houston, Savion Glover, Governor Tom Kean, Dr. Clement Price and more.
We are a nonprofit! We rely on the generosity and investments of individuals, corporations, foundations and friends to help Newark rise, rise, rise!
We provide much needed resources to the arts community including artist opportunity postings and an arts events calendar, as well as highlighting local partner organizations.
