Art Break: Portraiture
54 Halsey Street Room 312, Newark NJ 07102
2:30pm-4pm on Wednesdays
Kevin Darmanie, originally from Trinidad & Tobago, lives and works in Newark, New Jersey. He has produced paintings, murals, installations, comic books, and works on paper. Darmanie’s watercolors originally incorporated tropes of graphic novels to re-examine Caribbean attitudes, social critique, and introspection.
In this series of workshops, artists discuss their “take” on portraiture and lead participants in hands-on artmaking activities inspired by the materials, methods, and perspectives of their own practice. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Mirror Mirror.”
