July 9 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Please join us for an Author Talks reading with Nancy Burke and Anisa Rahim.

Nancy Burke earned her MFA in Creative Writing at Rutgers Newark in 2011. Since then, she has focused her creative efforts on book length work and shares her passion for writing at Montclair State University and Kean University where she teaches Introduction to Fiction Workshop; College Writing: Academic Prose I and College Writing: Writing and Literature II. She holds a marketing communications position at Union County College and has developed strategic marketing projects in business, education and non-profit organizations in addition to her creative work. Her earlier books include From the Abuelas’ Window, 2005, YA fiction, and If I Could Paint the Moon Black, 2014, a work of non-fiction. Both of these are refugee stories. She just completed the manuscript for her third book, Only The Women are Burning, a novel which might be classified in the dystopian feminist genre.

Anisa Rahim is a writer and a public interest lawyer. She has a B.A. from University of Chicago and a J.D. from Temple Law School. She graduated with an MFA from Rutgers-Newark in 2016. Her work has appeared in Blazevox magazine, the Open Journal of Arts and Letters and elsewhere. Her short story was a finalist in the Glimmer Train Very Short Fiction Contest in 2017. She is working on a book about the Meos of Mewat and her family history.
