Black New Jersey Author Talk and Book Signing

Join us on Thursday, March 7th for an Author Talk and Book Signing. Black New Jersey: 1664 to the Present Day tells the rich and complex story of the African American community’s remarkable accomplishments and the colossal obstacles they faced along the way.

Drawing from rare archives, historian Graham Russell Gao Hodges brings to life the courageous black men and women who fought for their freedom and eventually built a sturdy and substantial middle class.

Graham Russell Gao Hodges is a professor of history and Africana & Latin American Studies at Colgate University. Black New Jersey is his ninth book.

Hodges will be at The Newark Public Library on Thursday, March 7th to discuss the book and sign copies. Books will be available for sale at the event. Light refreshments will be served.
