“Like Jazz” Women’s History Month Film Festival

In conjunction with the Dana Library and the Institute of Jazz Studies, Film Screenings include “The Unforgettable Hampton Family,”  a documentary exploring how Deacon Clark Hampton, a son of slaves, lifted his twelve children out of poverty by making them into successful musicians.  In inimitable, 87 year young Dawn Hampton will be special guest at the screening; and Mary Lou Williams: The Lady Who Swings the Band with discussion following the screening with the film maker Carol Bash, and jazz historian/Columbia University Professor Farah J. Griffin.
