We set sail with a young Mendelssohn as he paints a musical portrait of the Scottish islands. Then, Time for Three—they call themselves “a classically-trained garage band”—join the New Jersey Symphony for Pulitzer Prize-winner composer Kevin Puts’ joyous and Grammy Award-winning piece, Contact. Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra spotlights every section of the orchestra to dazzling effect, and its last moments feature some of the most exciting final bars in all of classical music.
