Stingrays is the true story behind the birth of the Newark Swim Team. With odds against them, one man helped build a community staple that positively affected the lives of youth from multiple generations. The Newark Swim Team has generated Olympic gold medalists and was the first team of color to win a state championship.

Stingrays is a human story of goodwill, resilience, loyalty, and triumph. This inspirational short film infuses documentary, archival, and narrative storytelling.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the film directors and Newark Swim Team President, John L. Smith.
