Second Sundays: Oh Yes, Ki-mo-no!

Experience a wide array of Japanese culture from fashion to food to music through the lens of Kimono Refashioned: 1870s-Now! 

Highlights:

Live hip-hop taiko drum performance by COBU.
Create omusubi/onigiri (rice ball) food art inspired by kimono patterns. Led by Chef Eric Takahashi.
Learn how to shop for kimonos in a speed Japanese language course. Led by Kyoko Ohnishi.
Join speaker Dawnn Karen, for a discussion on the fashion psychology of Japanese culture with an emphasis on kimonos.
Program also includes MakerSPACE Drop-ins; gallery tours; planetarium shows; and more.

TICKETS
Paid and free tickets will also be made available day-of at the door.

  • General Admission: Adults – $15
  • General Admission: Children, Seniors, as well as Teachers & Students with valid IDs – $8
  • General Admission: U.S. and Canadian Veterans and their Families with valid I.D. – $8
  • Member, Newark Resident, Newark College or University Students with Valid ID, Children: 2 years and younger, Active Duty Military – FREE
