Second Sundays: The Climb

April 8 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Embrace the climb to the top through activities inspired by our new special exhibition The Rockies and Alps: Bierstadt, Calame, and the Romance of the Mountains. Highlights include virtual reality mountain climbing, an inflatable rock wall, live entertainment, artmaking workshops, and a talk on access to mountain landscapes. Activities are free with Museum admission.

Highlights:

• So, you think you can climb? Give it a shot on our 25-foot high inflatable rock wall.
• Experience a virtual reality mountain climbing session.
• Grab a partner and hit the dancefloor in an Appalachian square dance workshop.
• Join a talk about access, diversity, and environmental justice regarding mountain landscapes. Panelists include Nathan Baker of the New York – Northern New Jersey Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club; Shuan Butcher of Disabled Sports USA; Keyana M. Jones of Hikeoloution, and Anahí Naranjo of Latino Outdoors. Moderated by Curator of American Art Tricia Laughlin Bloom.
• Learn the sport of lacrosse as depicted in Ball Players.
• Program also includes MakerSPACE drop-ins, gallery tours; planetarium shows, including Earthquake; and more.
