Messiah is a part of the fabric of the Masterwork Chorus; the ensemble has performed this oratorio two hundred fifty six times, with one hundred eighteen occurring in Carnegie Hall. But, somehow, the music always seems fresh. It is a great work, and under the leadership of gifted music directors, the singers have come to understand its greatness on both an emotional and intellectual level. Their sensitive portrayal of Messiah’s power, passion and joy has inspired audiences since 1957, and will continue to do so for years to come.
