Rutgers’ Sawyer Seminar is seeking artists who would be interested in digitizing their work for a visual exhibition. Through generous funding from the Andrew Mellon Foundation, Rutgers University Newark will be doing a yearlong seminar series. “Natives and Nativists, Migrants and Immigrants in an American City,” which will invite scholars from across disciplines and countries to discuss immigration, race, and its effect across America’s cities.

The Seminar will be a yearlong program, with confirmed conference dates on September 28, 2022 and October 27th, 2022, as well as March 8, 2023. There will be a final date in April TBD.

Our exhibit will focus on artists from the Newark area showcasing their work.

Due to the ongoing nature of the seminar, we welcome artists to apply for any of the dates. We are open to coordination with artists about when they would like to be showcased. Artists are also encouraged to attend the seminar as guests.
