Dr. William Peniston, Librarian and Archivist at the Newark Museum, and Nadine Sergejeff, Special Collections Librarian at the Newark Public Library, will speak about the history of collecting at these two institutions. Learn about how John Cotton Dana, the Museum’s founder and the second director of the Library, used prints as a teaching tool and the reasons why he collected certain works of art, particularly Japanese prints, and how this tradition continues to this day.
