Join PES on January 16th at 6 PM for a reading and conversation between On Woman Hating artist V Walton and cultural worker Bilphena Decontee Yahwon. For this convening we will discuss two pieces: the poem “being property once myself” by Lucille Clifton and bell hooks’s book, Belonging – a culture of place. The discussion will move through ideas of land/body connection, what constitutes “home” and “community,” and how we go about nurturing a sense of belonging in what seems like an ever devolving climate .

Prior reading of each piece is encouraged but not required. Guests will have the opportunity to add their insights and other related reading recommendations over the course of the convening. This event offers hybrid participation, and guests can join us in-person at the exhibition or online.
