Garden State Art Weekend
Garden State Art Weekend is a one-of-a-kind, state-wide celebration of art in New Jersey. Our mission is to create an inclusive, once-a-year art weekend for all to enjoy. We are inspired by Upstate Art Weekend in New York and are creating a similar experience for New Jersey visitors and residents.
The festival’s central hub, Manufacturers Village Artists, will open over 65 artist studios not typically accessible to the public at Spring Open House. Leading participating institutions include Montclair Art Museum, The Newark Museum of Art, Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, and Hunterdon Art Museum. Other highlights include arts organizations, ArtYard (Frenchtown) and Gardenship Art (Kearny), as well as contemporary galleries like Akwaaba Gallery (Newark), IMUR Gallery (Jersey City), and Gold Montclair, and university galleries at Seton Hall University and Stockton University, among numerous other venues. Manufacturers Village Artists Spring Open House
For 18 years, the 65+ artists at historic Manufacturers Village in East Orange have welcomed the public into their creative studios each fall. For the first time the doors will be open to all this spring to explore the work and spaces of professional painters, sculptors, woodworkers, quilters, designers, printmakers, photographers, multi-media artists and more.
Spring Open House weekend (SATURDAY 20 AND SUNDAY 21 – 12-6pm) is a free event designed to fuse art, architecture, community and inspiration. It will be a chance to meet the artists, view their work and purchase original pieces. It also hopes to inspire visitors to start a new artistic pursuit, meet other people in the local community and to give lovers of history and architecture, the rare opportunity to explore these well-preserved historic buildings with a self-guided tour.
Visitors will also be able to view the East Orange Community Black Lives Matter Mural, one of the state’s largest murals. Painted in the spring of 2021, this 9,000 square foot mural was created by sixteen artists from the greater East Orange Community.
