“Newark Lifts, Newark Lights Through the Arts” will be springing up at Bloomfest! 2024 as a part of the Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival at the pinkest park in the western hemisphere – Branch Brook Park in Newark! You are invited to pop by our booth and paint in the park with us – Artists Yvonne Onque, Suliman Onque, and me, Denise Toney Designs! (First come, first served seating.) Feel free to join us!  “Newark Lifts, Newark Lights Through the Arts” is an ambitious endeavor inviting participants at least age 12 and above across Newark to engage in transformative art workshops. These sessions aim to create enduring memorial keepsakes and diverse artworks, ranging from paintings on canvases, mobile murals, memory quilts, and framed collages to LED candles, wearable art, ceramics, and more. We will be painting at Bloomfest! Led by seasoned instructors, these workshops offer a constructive outlet for individuals navigating grief, depression, or emotional distress, fostering positive expression and community support. This project endeavors to culminate in an exhibition showcasing the collective artworks before participants reclaim their creations. Scheduled monthly across various Newark wards, “Newark Lifts, Newark Lights Through the Arts” aims to provide solace and unity, offering a beacon of hope through artistic endeavors.
