ALL BLACK LIVES MATTER | RESTORE OUR COMMUNITY GROUND MURALS!

The City of Newark Division of Arts and Cultural Affairs, Newark Alliance, Rutgers University-Newark Office of the Chancellor and ACM Graphic Design Program, and partners invite the community to join us in Service and Solidarity, restoring our ground murals. On Saturday, May 18, 2024, we will restore the All Black Lives Matter mural (2020) on Halsey St, and on Saturday, June 1, 2024, we will repaint Sound the Rainbow! (2023) on Treat Place in Newark, New Jersey. 50 Halsey Street Newark, NJ 07102

These murals have brought together thousands over the past four years. In moments of unrest, they have stood as powerful statements, providing vital spaces for community building, care, and healing. They have been steadfast symbols of solidarity and sources of unbridled joy.

As we gather to repaint these murals, we do more than simply apply fresh layers of paint; the City of Newark shares a commitment to the growth, safety, and well-being of our communities.

These events are open to all ages. No painting experience is required. To join us, please sign up at CommunityGroundMurals.eventbrite.com.
